Special Art Exhibitions
The Kentucky Horse Park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, and the American Saddlebred Museum, which is also located at the park, have announced their schedule of special art exhibitions for 2009: Moments of Merit: Select Pieces of Saddlebred History at the
American Saddlebred Museum.
This exhibition will feature highlights from the American Saddlebred Museum's collection, an eclectic grouping of art, sculpture, photographs and memorabilia - many never before offered for public display, along with several new pieces of Saddlebred history.

Cherry Blossom Festival at Yuko-En Garden
Georgetown, KY: Spring is the time to get outdoors and celebrate the end of a long winter. Bring your family for a peaceful event including relaxation, fun and cultural activities at Yuko-En on the Elkhorn, the official Kentucky-Japan Friendship Garden in Georgetown Kentucky. Save this date, April 18, 2009, so you can attend the unique cultural experiences of the Cherry Blossom Festival.

On Saturday April 18 starting at noon, you can enjoy everything from grilled hotdogs to Japanese delicacies. As you pass through the Tokugawa Gates and enter the nearly six acre garden, leave your cares behind as you stroll through the hills of the Bluegrass set in a Japanese style garden in Georgetown Kentucky. Most days of the year you can experience waterfalls, arched bridges, Koi ponds and winding paths. On this special day, you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of additional activities including; Taiko (Japanese Drums), Traditional Japanese Song and Dance, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, Origami (the art of paper folding), Gyotaku (fish printing), Karesansui (the dry landscape gardens), Japanese Food, Koto (Japanese Harp), Kyuudo (Japanese Archery), Noh (Ancient Japanese Theatre) performances, firing of Japanese inspired Raku Pottery in the new Kiln House, Art Exhibits and Sale, Garden Tours, various forms of Martial Arts, mini-kite making with K.I.C.K, Canoe trips on scenic Elkhorn Creek and more!

So bring the family and chairs or a blanket to participate in an afternoon of activities. Yuko-En on the Elkhorn is located at 700 Cincinnati Pike (adjacent to historic Cardome Centre) highway 25, just .7 of a mile north of the courthouse in Georgetown Kentucky. The event will be held rain or shine so dress accordingly. 

The garden is operated by the Trustees of the Scott Education and Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to empower participants to enjoy life-long learning and positive recreational experiences. Reduced Shakespeare Company's - The Complete Works of William Shapespeare
Even though this is not a Georgetown Community Theatre production, we wanted to let you know that two Georgetown Community Theatre Board members and one very talented young man make it worth seeing!

The Royal Spring Theatrical Society presents the Reduced Shakespeare Company's The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged featuring John Cambell, Connor Hall, and Randy Hall. The play is a comedic 97 minute romp through all 37 of Shakespeare's plays performed by three actors. Directed by Scott Turner, Asst. Director Joanna Jerome, Costumes by Cheryl Connelly.

April 24th and 25th at 7 p.m. (dinner), show at 8 p.m., Hilton Garden Inn, 110 Grandstand Drive. The April 25th performance in Georgetown will benefit the YMCA Campaign for Kids. Scott County Arts Consortium, Inc. presents: Dance Into Spring!
Luncheon Series. The Art for the Soul portion will be Ballroom Dancing by Renee Brice & Shawn Benton, Bluegrass Dance Center, Richmond. Besides the beautiful visual aspects of their dancing, they will also give the history and cultural aspects of the dances. The Food for the Body portion will be a delicious luncheon of homemade salads-chicken, potato, and gelatin (Strawberry Pretzel).

The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Parish Hall of the Church of the Holy Trinity, 209 S. Broadway, Georgetown. 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Competition Schedule Set
The Games will begin with opening ceremonies on September 25, 2010. The first weekend of competition (September 25-30) will include Reining competition and Endurance. In week two, (October 1-10) will include Jumping, Para-Dressage, Driving and Vaulting competition. The Games will end with closing ceremonies on October 10, 2010. As an added benefit, NBC Sports will extend its coverage of the 2010 Games on September 26th, adding an extra 30 minutes of Games programming. The broadcast, tentatively scheduled for noon-1:30 p.m., will feature the opening ceremonies, and highlights from the Reining and Endurance competitions.
