Georgetown is located 10 miles north of Lexington on I-75. Other communities within a half-hour drive of Georgetown are Paris, Versailles, Frankfort, Midway, and Winchester. Both Cincinnati and Louisville may be reached in around an hour.
Georgetown is on Eastern Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is in effect from the last Sunday in April through the last Saturday in October.
The Kentucky Horse Park is open 7 days a week from March 15 - October 31. It is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays from November 1 -March 15 (date changes each year), and on Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Park hours are 9:00 am through 5:00 pm.
If you are flying into Lexington Airport you should plan on renting a car. Also note that an alternative to flying directly into the Lexington airport is to fly into the Cincinnati Airport. This is located in Northern Kentucky just off I-75. The drive from the Cincinnati Airport to Georgetown takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The Georgetown/Scott County Regional Airport, on US-460, five miles east of town, is one of the finest general aviation airports in Kentucky, and features a 5,500 foot runway.
Kentucky has the highest percentage of counties prohibiting the sale of alcohol in the country. Scott County does allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in restaurants only.
