GEORGETOWN, KY - AUGUST 29, 2017 – The Annual Festival of the Horse located along Main Street in historic downtown Georgetown takes place on September 8-10, 2017. This three-day event consists of live entertainment, art & craft exhibits, local & regional food options, multiple parades, Fox Creek Amusement rides, horse games, and a youth & open horse show.

The Festival of the Horse has been a lively tradition in Scott County since the 1980’s. Celebrating the role of the horse in the heart of the Bluegrass for the 37th year, the festival provides a fun filled weekend for locals and visitors. Horse heritage is admired with equine specific events such as Republic Bank’s Colt & Filly Review Parade on Friday, Saturday’s Toyota Grand Parade of Horses and Experience The Horse/ Horse Games, and the Festival Horse Show on Sunday.

The 2017 Festival of the Horse brings new performances by upcoming artists such as Dustin Collins on Friday evening and Kris Bentley of Sundy Best on Sunday afternoon. Presenting the largest portfolio of craft and food vendors in the history of the festival, this year’s events are expected to bring more than 30,000 people over the weekend to downtown Georgetown.

Kick-off for the Festival begins with the Fireman’s Chili Cook-off on Thursday, September 7th starting at 6 p.m. All proceeds acquired from the Cook-off benefits the Georgetown/Scott County Toys for Tots Program, an organization whose mission is to collect and distribute new toys to needy children during Christmas.

Live music by the popular dance band, Swing Street, will perform on the Square in downtown Georgetown Thursday evening after the Chili Cook-off. Swing Street will feature an enthusiastic twist to some of the greatest hits from past to present.

Festival hours are 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Visit www.festivalofthehorse.org for additional event information.
