The celebration begins when you walk in the door of this downtown “sweetery” that began a dozen years ago in the commercial kitchen of a residential Georgetown home.

Desserts by Rebecca features intricate custom cakes that dazzle with their sculpted and hand-modeled designs and world-class desserts – from French macarons, Mexican wedding cookies, Italian panna cotta and traditional Kentucky faves (bourbon balls, old-fashioned peanut butter rolls, jam cake, butterscotch pies) – to the namesake’s signature specialties. These include a Lucifer brownie with burnt butter cream center topped with chocolate ganache; the rare-to-find, made-from-scratch cream horn; and hot chocolate bombs so decadent they need to be pre-ordered because they fly off the shelves.

“From the greeting when you come in to finding your favorites, Desserts by Rebecca is a complete and unique experience that customers find they want to share with family and friends,” said founder and owner Rebecca Maupin. “Desserts by Rebecca is a real taste of Kentucky, with recipes being passed down from generation to generation.”

Rebecca opened her business in 2008 and word of mouth of her beautiful and creative custom-designed desserts spread so quickly she decided to open a pastry shop in downtown Georgetown.

“Customers continually asked Rebecca to make baked goods, wishing they could have some delicious and creative items along with their custom orders to share with family and friends,” said Julia Jaddock, operations manager. “The downtown storefront has been a hit beyond what Rebecca even imagined.”9F37E132 04D4 490E B496 85F9BB4808C8

Georgetown’s Victorian streetscape lends that old-timey charm and atmosphere to the family-run bakery. Entering Desserts by Rebecca is like walking into a world of imagination and stepping back in time to enjoy the sights and scents of delicious desserts, all made from scratch.

0B9B36F3 D003 401B A4EF 1948B3FF9872“Customers can choose from an eye-popping, mouthwatering selection of desserts by walking in, ordering curbside or pre-ordering their favorites,” said Karen Beyerle, who works front of the house operations. “If you can imagine it, Rebecca and her team can make your dream custom-designed dessert just for you.”

With everything 2020 is throwing at people, treating yourself to a sweet little something-something is more important than ever.

Said Rebecca: “It is simple and delightful to let the busyness and chaos take a backseat to making special memories around a sweet treat that allows people to take a moment to just be still. And to smile.”

Speaking of 2020 and the pandemic, the shop has implemented numerous health and safety protocols, including outside seating, individual packaging for office trays and gift baskets, face masks worn and provided for those in need, social distancing, store sanitizing, staff temperature checks and hand sanitizer available for the public.

Desserts by Rebecca offers curbside service and custom-order deliveries, plus the company has linked up with Kentucky Takeout for delivery as well. Hours: 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Tune in daily to see Rebecca’s live video on the Desserts by Rebecca Facebook page and see which of your favorites will be filling the shelves. More information may be found on the website. For custom orders, send a message and photo via Facebook or call the shop at 859-684-5191.
